  • Numérique : l’IAI-Cameroun et la JERC mènent la réflexion 

    Cathy Meba, la présidente de la Jeunesse Émergente et Républicaine du Cameroun (JERC) a effectué dans ce sens un déplacement ce 12 janvier 2026 au campus de l’IAI-Cameroun à Yaoundé.

    Accueillie par le Représentant-Résident de cette institution, Armand Claude Abanda, l’hôte qui est également la Vice-Présidente du Conseil régional du Sud, est venue entretenir les étudiants sur le thème de l’entrepreneuriat jeune par le numérique.

    Au cœur des échanges, comment faire des étudiants des créateurs de richesses alors que les jeunes font face au chômage. La conférencière va ainsi mettre l’accent sur le rôle crucial des compétences digitales dans un monde de plus en plus numérisé.  « Il est aujourd’hui question qu’on essaie de vulgariser les nouvelles technologies, de former les Camerounais, les femmes et les jeunes à l’utilisation du numérique. Car le numérique est présent partout aujourd’hui », a souligné Cathy Meba. 

    Elle sera appuyée dans ce sens par Armand Claude Abanda pour qui les jeunes ont intérêt à actionner tous les leviers à leur disposition, pour que les connaissances digitales soient une solution pour les problèmes quotidiens des Camerounais. Ces problèmes, a-t-il relevé, peuvent passer par une autosuffisance alimentaire, d’où l’importance de trouver des solutions pour optimiser le rendement agricole, l’élevage, la pêche et parallèlement, bien d’autres questions comme celles liées à l’éducation ou encore à la santé.

    Une causerie qui a eu le mérite d’édifier ces jeunes étudiants qui n’ont pas hésité à exprimer leur satisfaction. « Cathy Meba nous a également encouragé à oser, puisqu’il y a plusieurs étudiants parmi nous qui ignorent même que les subventions sont là pour nous aider à pouvoir mettre sur pied nos futurs entreprises, ou alors nos start up et nous accompagner tout au long de la réalisation de nos projets » a déclaré Rufin Halann Bangoup, le président des étudiants de l’IAI-Cameroun. 

    « Nous sommes là pour implémenter la ligne politique du chef de l’État », a renchéri la Vice-Présidente du Conseil régional du Sud, Cathy MEBA. Elle qui a également annoncé : « Nous voulons faire partie des 10 000 qui restent pour que l’IAI-Cameroun puisse atteindre les un million de personnes formées en TIC », d’où son vœu à faire étendre cette formation davantage aux zones reculées.

    La cérémonie qui a réuni étudiants et invités s’est ainsi achevée sur la perspective d’un partenariat à venir entre la JERC et l’IAI-Cameroun, ouvrant la voie à de futures actions communes en faveur de la jeunesse.

  • Intelligence artificielle : l’Afrique face aux défis du numérique

    Ils ont été relevés dans le Rapport sur les avancées et les tendances du numérique 2025 du groupe Banque mondiale, le deuxième du genre, qui s’intéresse principalement aux dernières évolutions dans le développement de l’Intelligence artificielle (IA).

    De prime abord, le rapport relève que les tendances mondiales en matière d’innovation, d’adaptation et d’adoption de l’IA ne sont pas uniformes. Il précise à cet effet que l’innovation dans l’IA reste concentrée dans les pays à revenu élevé, dont se rapprochent la Chine et l’Inde. L’on apprend à cet effet que les pays à revenu élevé représentent 85 % des start-up d’IA, 91 % des financements en capital-risque et 54 % des publications mondiales sur l’IA (2000-2024). La même tendance, dit-on, s’observe aussi en ce qui concerne les brevets avec la Chine qui détient 66 % des dépôts de brevets dans l’IA générative (2014-2023, neuf fois plus qu’en 2017), pendant que l’Inde affiche la plus forte croissance (56 % par an). Les pays à faible revenu, eux, étant largement absents du paysage de l’innovation et de l’adaptation concernant l’IA.

    L’environnement de l’IA

    Selon le Rapport sur les avancées et les tendances du numérique 2025, l’écosystème moderne de l’IA est un paysage vaste et en rapide mutation, qui repose sur des infrastructures de base comme les réseaux électriques et de télécommunications avec notamment :

    -La couche Capacité informatique (puces d’IA spécialisées, serveurs, stockage et centres de données) qui constitue le socle physique facilitant l’exécution des tâches par l’IA

    -Les plateformes d’informatique en nuage (cloud computing) offrant, elles, un accès évolutif à des services d’IA intégrés. 

    -La couche Données d’entraînement qui regroupe les informations provenant d’appareils numériques, de capteurs, de plateformes, de transactions commerciales et d’ensembles de données publiques qui sont collectées afin d’en garantir l’exactitude avant d’être utilisées pour entraîner les modèles

    -La couche Algorithmes et modèles qui abrite les outils de développement de l’IA qui créent et entraînent des modèles

    -la couche Application affine les tâches pour des usages et des appareils spécifiques, en intégrant les capacités de l’IA pour une exploitation locale. 

    Le défi de l’énergie dans les pays en développement

    Cependant, souligne-t-on dans ce rapport, l’ensemble de l’écosystème numérique est très largement tributaire de l’énergie. « Une alimentation électrique instable est une externalité négative importante, car des réseaux peu fiables et des pannes fréquentes peuvent rendre inutiles même les infrastructures numériques et d’IA les plus avancées », peut-on lire. 

    C’est pourquoi, relève-t-on, des investissements fondamentaux dans le secteur de l’énergie sont indissociables des objectifs de développement numérique. « Par conséquent, un avenir numérique durable et opérationnel passe par des prix de l’énergie abordables, une résilience solide du réseau et une intégration réussie des énergies renouvelables », pour ce faire, il est proposé la mise sur pied des politiques publiques cohérentes pour développer une connectivité d’un coût abordable. De même, étant donné que la préparation à l’IA dépend à la fois de l’infrastructure numérique et d’une énergie fiable, les gouvernements doivent harmoniser leurs politiques en matière d’énergie, de connectivité et de données.

  • AFCON 2025 : Dreams by Indomitable Lions fans abbreviated

    The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are leaving the 2025 African Cup of Nations tournament with words of congratulations and motivation from their coach David Pagou, fans and the Moroccan coach, Walid Regragui.

    Their ambitious journey towards a sixth AFCON trophy was halted at the quarter finals by a compact Moroccan defense that had mastered their play style and formulated an appropriate response.

    With two spots kicks, one during each half of the game, the Indomitable Lions took irreparable damage.

    Substitutions, tactical changes and counters offensives produced insufficient results.

    Beaten but not defeated, the lions who already missed the World Cup 2026 expedition have resolved to take the lessons from the AFCON to better prepare for future events. Coach David Pagou said told press men, adding that the team is still young and most of the players were having their first AFCON experience.

    The combative team spirit of the Cameroon National football squad attracted admiration from fans who were thirty for more.

    One of the most interesting stages of the AFCON journey was their 2-1 win over the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in the round of 16.

    The South Africa side tipped as the favorites because their, experienced players who have been working together over a long period of time, during the AFCON 2023 they reached the semi finals and they have an experienced coach who was the 2017 AFCON with Cameroon.

    Coach Hugo Broos of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa sounded optimistic during the Pre-match press conference.

    Coach David Pagou of Cameroon on his part maintained his composure with cautious declarations.

    However, on the field, the Indomitable Lions have control of the game countering the South African onslaught and taking the lead with two goals.

    The Bafana Bafana managed to score one in the last minutes of the game, insufficient to change the tide. The lions carried the day, sparking celebrations among fans in Morocco and the millions Cameroon.

    Coach David Pagou’s brightest smile could be perceived at the post match press conference as he asked for a little time to savour the victory.

    It was also a time of celebration for the players who also expressed satisfaction with their output.

    This celebration would be the last in Morocco as the host Nation’s Atlas Lions halted the Indomitable Lions journey at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium.

    Coach David Pagou and his boys are back on the drawing board.

  • AFCON 2025: Honourable Exit for Indomitable Lions

    The Cameroon national football team leaves Morocco shoulders high after leaving an impression that they are still a force to reckon with in African football.

    The Indomitable Lions bowed to the Atlas Lions of Morocco by 2 – 0 in a quarter final match at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat, capital of the host Nation.

    The 68 thousand seats capacity football arena was full of Moroccan fans whose cheers, applause and shouts were so overwhelming that it almost submerged the drums and calls from Cameroonian supporters.

    The match that was full of physical impacts, swift passes and pressure on the Cameroonian defense which demonstrated a Moroccan side that had studied and mastered the Cameroon play style. The Atlas Lions open score in the first half from a corner kick. The Indomitable Lions struggled to respond swiftly as they had done in previous games but the Moroccan defense wall was impenetrable.

    Words of Motivation from Coach David Pagou during the halftime break as well as substitutions in the course of the game were not enough to repair the damage.

    The Indomitable Lions came back determined to level score in the second half and created some chances but another goal conceded through another corner kick sealed their fate.

    Exhausted from the overwhelming Moroccan pressure, team Cameroon prevented further damage and tried long balls from the wings but the Moroccan defense anticipated on the move. At the close of the game, it was Cameroon 0-2 Morocco.

    During the post match press conference, Coach David Pagou received a standing ovation from media professionals who had crowded the Press Conference hall to get his impression on the game and the Cameroon’s participation.

    The coach on his part congratulated his team, saying that in less than a month of working together, they have left a positive impression. Reaching the quarter final is an exploit that wasn’t expected of them especially as most of the players are young and were playing this level of competition for the first time, David Pagou added. He said they have learned from the Moroccan expedition and would improve in future. That the team has made Cameroonians to dream and  can once again be proud of their squad.

    He also saluted the Moroccan fans for cheering their players till the end and wished the best for Morocco that has crossed the quarter final of the AFCON for the first time in over two decades.

    Coach Walid Regragui of Morocco on his part congratulated his team for applying to the letter what they practiced during training and for obtaining the victory at the end.

    He said his team was currently among the best in scoring from spot kicks. He added that they studied the Cameroonian play style, its weak spots and came out with a counter strategy involving swiftly passes, rapid shift of position of players on the pitch to create spaces and spot kicks.

    So far, the Moroccan national team prides itself to have won or played draws without any defeat in their last 37 home games in Official Competition having a total of 32 wins, 5 draws.

    Team Cameroon is leaving the competition with some achievements including;

    – three man of the match awards to Christian Kofane, Bryan Mbeumo and Carlos Baleba in five matches played,

    – six goals scored, five goals scored,

    – three victories, one draw and one defeat

    – Reactions the quarter final, a stage better than the previous AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire.

    The goals were scored for the Indomitable Lions by Christian Kofane with two goals scored, Junior Tchamadeu and Karl Eyong Eta with one goal each as well as two own goals from the opponents.

    The social media is beaming to the rhythm of the AFCON with content producers proposing a variety of items.

    From AI generated videos, graphics designs, to video footage and text most contents either wish well for the lions or predict their victory.

    A video generated by Artificial Intelligence of Coach David Pagou in dance mode is just one of such contents that celebrate the results of the coach, considered a revelation.

    Some content creators also venture in the gamble of predicting the winners of matches, sometimes referring to the views as divine revelation however the results of some matches sparked doubt on their claims which are sometimes inaccurate.

    With Cameroon vs Morocco game just hours away, various theories have been put forth to just why five time title holders, the Indomitable Lions should raw loudest against the host, the Atlas Lions of Morocco who pride themselves as having Africa best player of the year, the top scorers of the tournament so far and will be playing in front of their home crowd.

    While content creators play the virtual match on social media, fans look forward with optimism to a win for Cameroon on Friday January 9, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium.

  • AFCON 2025: Africa’s Top Eight on Recess ahead of Quarter finals

    The round of 16 matches of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 are now over. Teams have a two day window to recuperate before getting back to the pitch for quarter final matches.

    So far, of the 24 teams that participated, lodged in six groups from A-F, 16 have already left the competition, only 8 are still in the race including:

    Morocco, Senegal, Cameroon, Algeria, Nigeria, Mali, Egypt and title holders Côte d’Ivoire.

    The first group of eight left after failing to cross the group stage and eight others were knocked out at the round of 16.

    At this level of the competition, 44 matches have been played with 110 goals scored as oppose to 113 during the AFCON 2013 in Cote d’Ivoire.

    The Widest goal difference is 4-0 in favour of Nigeria against Mozambique during the round of 16 match same as in 2023 but back then two matches had similar results.

    Seven red cards have already been issued to players in various stages of the competition.

    As teams compete for the trophy, stickers are also in the race for the golden boot. So far, the highest goal scorer is Morocco’s Brahim Díaz with 4 goals in 4 matches.

  • AFCON 2025 : Cameroon Grabs Quarter final Ticket from South Africa

    The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have sailed through to the quarter final phase of the Africa Cup of Nations, after beating the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, by two goals to one at the Al Madina stadium in Rabat.

    Cameroon joins Senegal, Mali and Morocco that have already qualified for the next stage of the competition.

    According to the fixtures, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are scheduled to challenge the Atlas Lions of Morocco, at 8:00pm on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Rabat.

    At the close of this Sunday’s game, Cameroon’s midfielder, Carlos Baleba was named Man of the Match. He dedicated the trophy to his mother, and promised to work harder. He said the strength of the team is the result of teamwork with every player ready to assist the other.

    During the post match press conference, coach Hugo Bross of South Africa, expressed disappointment with the defeat, but saluted the fighting spirit of the Indomitable Lions. He said the Cameroonian team could be the surprise of the AFCON.

    Coach David Pagou of Cameroon, on his part saluted his players for the victory. He said for now, the team will savour the victory before looking at what strategy they would adopt against Morocco who is the super favourite, playing in front of their home crowd.

    The lions chanted victory songs and danced as they walked out of the Al Madina stadium.

  • AFCON 2025 : Indomitable Lions set to Face Bafana Bafana in Rabat


    The South Africa vs Cameroon encounter is going to be a challenge between the experience of the South African team and their coach, Hugo against fighting spirit of the Indomitable Lions under coach David Pagou.

    The encounter is scheduled for 8 :00pm this Sunday January 4, 2026 at the Al Medina stadium in the Agdal neighborhood in Rabat, Morocco.

    The Lions have to win the round of 16 match to proceed to quarter final stage of the competition.

    Prior to the encounter both sides coached by Hugo Broos for South African and David Pagou for Cameroon expressed their determination to grab the victory.

    During the pre-match press conference the South African coach, Hugo Broos said he would not have mercy on Cameroon and fight to win despite the memories he keeps with the Lions. Hugo Broos won the 2017 AFCON in Gabon with the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and won the third spot with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa during the 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.

    On the other side, the Head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, David Pagou said his team is in their own corner and motivated to challenge the South African side which is solid and has been working together for a long time with an experienced coach.

    He said the lions would used their own skills and technics to face the match just as they have been doing since the start of the competition.

    About two hundred media professionals are expected to cover the Cameroon vs South Africa encounter at the stadium which is the smallest that the lions have played in since the start of the AFCON tournament.

    The Al medina stadium is situated in the Agdal neighborhood of Rabat, it hosted group D matches during the group stage. The stadium has a capacity of 18 thousand seats.

    It is the home stadium of Union Touarga Sports, a local club founded in 1969 and went professional in the year 2020 in the Moroccan football championship, called « Botola Pro »

  • AFCON 2025 : Indomitable Lions travel to Rabat

    The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are expected to fly to the Moroccan capital Rabat as from Friday January 2, 2025 ahead of their round of 16 match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Sunday January 4, 2025.

    Rabat is situated some 540km from Agadir passing through Casablanca. The city of Rabat is said to have a classic Mediterranean climate, cooler and wetter than Agadir, where the Lions had been stationed for about two weeks.

    New Year at Hyatt Regency Taghazout

    The team is said to have enjoyed a calm day of rest marking the 2026 New Year feast.

    The New Year celebration followed their victory over Mozambique that place at the second position in group F though having equal points as the title holders, Côte d’Ivoire at the top of the group.

    The Indomitable Lions completed the group stage with seven points, winning two matches and drawing one, scoring four goals, conceding two goals.

    During the post match press conference, Coach David Pagou said he told his players that the Head of State moved the time of his address by an hour because of the Indomitable Lions encounter, which is something unheard off. The players were so touched and they decided to make good of it during the match.

    He also congratulated the players for the performance so far though he says they have to continue working hard in order to solve the equation of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa when they clash on January 4.

    The players also shared a similar opinion when interviewed at the mixed zone.

    Captain Nohou Tolo on his part assured Cameroonians that the pain suffered during the match was a sign of muscle fatigue but he’s getting over it.

    The players said they are humble but focused, determined and motivated to win every match irrespective of the opponent.

  • AFCON 2025 : Indomitable Lions strive to lead Group F

    Cameroons national football team has already qualified for the round of 16 with four points, representing a victory and a draw after their two group games.

    The third and last group game this Wednesday December 31, 2025 will determine their position in group F and their potential opponent.

    With four points same and Cote d’Ivoire, the lions need to win with a wide goal margin in other to increases their chances of being at the top of the group.

    Prior to the match, the lions had their official training session at the Abdoulaziz Rifki stadium in Agadir. During the session, three cameroonian players called up to speak to the press indicated their determination to pick the three points against Mozambique.

    Head coach David Pagou during the pre-match press conference indicated that the team is taking one match at a time and their goal is to win every match irrespective of the opponent.

    This Wednesday’s match coincides with the end of year message of the president of the Republic to the Cameroonian people.

    The lions would therefore be expected to raw loudest as they get to the pitch to represent the national colours.
