    National Assembly: Midterm Budgetary Orientations Review

    Members of the National Assembly have scrutinized the State’s major budgetary orientations during a plenary session for the general debate on the Medium-Term Economic and Budgetary Programming Document 2027–2029.

    This follows the review of the document by the Finance and Budget Committee.

    Lawmakers raised major concerns such as the execution of public investments and governance in the mining, forestry, and oil sectors.

    Different government ministers highlighted their constraints while assuring that efforts are ongoing to improve the living conditions of the population.

    Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie 51st session opens in Yaoundé

    The 51st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) started this Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with a meeting of the APF Bureau members.

    The meeting was chaired by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie and Senior Vice President of the National Assembly, Hon. Hilarion Etong, at the Paul Biya Glass House.

    The Assembly aims to strengthen cooperative relations with the member states of La Francophonie.

    Nearly 400 parliamentarians and institutional leaders from some 100 Francophonie parliaments, as well as 100 young parliamentarians, will be participating.

    Cameroon: CAMPHIA 2024-2025 Results Unveiled

    The summary results of the Cameroon Population-Based HIV Impact Assessment (CAMPHIA) 2024-2025 have been presented in Yaoundé this July 7, 2026 during an event chaired by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Manaouda Malachie.

    The Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim at the U.S. Embassy in Cameroon, John G. Robinson, members of the CAMPHIA committee and other health officials attended the event.

    The results are a product of a household-based national survey conducted from September 24 to January 2025 with funding from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).


    The Chargé d’Affaires, ad interim at the U.S. Embassy, John G. Robinson applauded Cameroon’s HIV response following the presentation of results of the Cameroon Population-Based HIV Impact Assessment.

    He says the US government will continue committing to improving healthcare services in Cameroon, in partnership with the government.

    Cameroon is strengthening international cooperation to accelerate the restitution of its cultural heritage, with Colombia joining efforts to share expertise on recovering and protecting cultural property.

    The commitment was reaffirmed in Yaoundé during the opening of an exchange between officials of the Republic of Columbia and the Ministry of Arts and Culture of Cameroon.

    The Colombian delegation visiting Cameroon is led by Fabián Romero Aponte. Discussion highlighted the fact that the recovery of cultural artefacts is a matter of national sovereignty.

    The State is reflecting on ways of transforming diaspora remittances into productive investments through the intervention of Deposits and Consignment Funds.

    This was the focus of a high level international panel opened by Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze insisting that transparency, good governance and risk mitigation must be guaranteed to serve as safeguards.

    The event brought together representatives of Deposits and Consignment Funds of Gabon, Sénégal, Niger, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire , Benin and France as well as development partners.

    The Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon have continued training ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to kick off on July 26 in Morocco.

    Cameoroon’s 26 players had a light training session this Tuesday July 7, 2026 at the military stadium in the presence of head coach Valentine Nguele.

    The new and old players have resolved to give their best in the competition.

    Fire Incident at Bamenda Regional Hospital

    Essential services at the Bamenda Regional Hospital have been affected after a midnight fire on June 29th destroyed part of the hospital’s Multipurpose Department, causing extensive damage to medications, vital health records and ICT equipment.

    While no lives have been lost, North West Governor, Adolphe Lele Lafrique who has been on the site, has urged hospital staff to continue to render quality services to the over 850 patients who visit the hospital per month.

    The Governor has equally announced plans to reconstruct the building which hosted the main drug store, and the Statistics Unit, vital in the smooth functioning of the Bamenda Regional Hospital.

    Social Dialogue: Consultation Committee meets in Yaoundé

    The 48th and 49th Ordinary Sessions of the Consultation and Monitoring Committee for Social Dialogue is holding in Yaoundé this June 30.

    The sessions are chaired by the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Gregoire Owona.

    Representatives of government employees and workers unions are exploring new approaches to improving working conditions and preserving social dialogue.

    The stakeholders are expected to make valuable contributions to improving the workplace, and assess recommendations from previous sessions of the social dialogue watchdog.

    The Consultation and Monitoring Committee for Social Dialogue is an important platform for consensus on Labour-related issues affecting employers and employees.

    Kribi Handicraft Day: Transformation to Finished Goods Encouraged

    The 6th edition of the Day of Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises for the Ocean Division of the South Region has been launched.

    The day organised by the Regional Delegation of the Ministry of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises is a major gathering for local producers in Kribi.

    It was marked by exhibitions and sales dedicated to the men and women who are transforming raw materials into finished goods in the Ocean Division.

    The event gave small producers of the division an opportunity to speak about the difficulties they face in moving from raw materials to market-ready products, while officials responded with support measures already in place.

  • Week of National Solidarity and Social Entrepreneurship Launched

    Cameroon has officially launched the 9th edition of the Week of National Solidarity and Social Entrepreneurship in the country.

    The ceremony organised this Tuesday June 30, was presided over by the Minister of Social Affairs, Pauline Irène Nguéné.

    According to the Minister, the event is a platform to promote solidarity, empower vulnerable groups, and scale social entrepreneurship as a tool for inclusive development.

    The validated feasibility study indicate that the Fund is being positioned as a major lever for autonomy of vulnerable persons.

    The Member of Government says new protection and inclusion mechanisms will be put in place.
