Dried shrimps, an essential ingredient in many Cameroonian households, are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive in Douala, particularly at the Youpwè Fish Market.

The situation is putting pressure on both traders and consumers as prices continue to soar.

Many traders attribute the sharp increase to rising fuel costs, which they say have driven up transportation and fishing expenses.

The 2026 edition of the African Anti-Corruption Day was observed on July 11 with focus on harnessing integrity and anti-corruption in initiatives in the African continent.

Themed « Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Actions Across Africa, » the annual event highlighted the need for progress from awareness to quick action.

Commemorations of the African Anti-Corruption Day were extended to July 13, with virtual coordinated national and community-level events across member states.

As Africa’s anti-corruption Day unfolded, member states of the European Union, anti-corruption agencies, civil society, media,
academia, religious and traditional leaders, administrative authorities, political actors, the private sector, and citizens agreed to further the scope, depth, and impact of integrity-building initiatives on the continent.

The importance of ending corruption via tweets, following the African Union Advisory Board against Corruption on Facebook and LinkedIn, distributing informative materials such as brochures, posters, and leaflets, organizing community outreach programs to engage with citizens at the grassroots level on efforts to promote Integrity especially when handling cases for both the accused and victims of corruption and related offenses .

The African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (AUCPCC) adopted 11th July 2003 as the day to root out and prevent corruption in the African continent.
