    National Assembly: Midterm Budgetary Orientations Review

    Members of the National Assembly have scrutinized the State’s major budgetary orientations during a plenary session for the general debate on the Medium-Term Economic and Budgetary Programming Document 2027–2029.

    This follows the review of the document by the Finance and Budget Committee.

    Lawmakers raised major concerns such as the execution of public investments and governance in the mining, forestry, and oil sectors.

    Different government ministers highlighted their constraints while assuring that efforts are ongoing to improve the living conditions of the population.

    Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie 51st session opens in Yaoundé

    The 51st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie (APF) started this Tuesday, July 7, 2026, with a meeting of the APF Bureau members.

    The meeting was chaired by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie and Senior Vice President of the National Assembly, Hon. Hilarion Etong, at the Paul Biya Glass House.

    The Assembly aims to strengthen cooperative relations with the member states of La Francophonie.

    Nearly 400 parliamentarians and institutional leaders from some 100 Francophonie parliaments, as well as 100 young parliamentarians, will be participating.

    Cameroon: Diaspora Remittances for Productive Investments Discussed

    The State is reflecting on ways of transforming diaspora remittances into productive investments through the intervention of Deposits and Consignment Funds.

    This was the focus of a high level international panel opened by Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze insisting that transparency, good governance and risk mitigation must be guaranteed to serve as safeguards.

    The event brought together representatives of Deposits and Consignment Funds of Gabon, Sénégal, Niger, Morocco, Côte d’Ivoire , Benin and France as well as development partners.

    National Security: 51 Police Officers Trained in Advanced Crowd-Control Techniques

    Fifty-one police officers drawn from all ranks of the National Security Force have completed a five-day training course on public order maintenance and crowd management on June 26,2026 in Yaoundé.

    The programme, which ran from June 22 to 26, 2026, equipped participants with modern skills in crowd control, operational planning, intervention protocols and public-space management.

    The officers, including Police Commissioners, Police Officers, Police Inspectors and Peacekeepers, received theoretical and practical training designed to enhance security during major public events and improve the management of large gatherings.

    The closing ceremony at the National Higher Police School was presided over by Baya Dominique, Secretary General of the General Delegation for National Security, representing the Delegate General for National Security, Martin Mbarga Nguélé. Also in attendance was the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Cameroon, H.E. Juan-Pedro Gomez Delaunay.

    Addressing the participants, Baya Dominique called on them to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training with professionalism and responsibility. He further urged them to share the expertise gained with their colleagues and continue promoting best practices in maintaining law and order.

    For his part, Ambassador Juan-Pedro Gomez Delaunay praised the professionalism, commitment and spirit of cooperation demonstrated throughout the training. He noted that the programme reflects the growing security partnership between Cameroon and Spain.

    The training is expected to strengthen the capacity of National Security personnel to safeguard civil liberties, secure public spaces and effectively manage crowds during demonstrations, sporting events, cultural gatherings and other large-scale public activities.

  • NASLA Cycle A and B: Trainees complete Simplified Military Training in Mutengene

    Some 352 Cycle A and B trainees of the National School of Local Administration (NASLA) have completed the simplified military training at the Police training and application center CIAP in Mutengene pledging to uphold the values of citizenship and patriotism in relation to the management of local and regional interests.

    While presiding over the ceremony, the Director General of NASLA, Tanyitiku Enohachuo Bayee, commended the dedication of the 3rd batch of trainees, during their one month training which marks the beginning of their journey towards the respect for civil liberty and human rights, preserving and maintaining public order, safety and peace.

    African Kickboxing Confederation: Aslam Mohamed Re-elected President

    The re-elected African Kickboxing Confederation President says he will keep seeking ways for the growth of the sport.

    The 46-year-old Aslam Mahomed made the comment shortly after his election during an elective general assembly this Wednesday June 24, 2026 in Yaoundé.
    In the meantime, Cameroon is set to host the African Kickboxing Championships, an event to be attended by athletes from some 15 nations.
    The competition starts on Thursday June 25, 2025.

    The Speaker of the National Assembly has appealed on all Cameroonians to adhere to the ongoing General population and housing census, as well as that on agriculture and livestock.

    The right honourable Theodore Datouo was speaking after taking part in the exercise with the help of census agents.

    The Director General of the Central Bureau of the Census and Population Studies, BUCREP, Bernadette Mbarga and her deputy, Abdoulaye Oumarou Dalil were at the speaker’s residence to monitor the operation.

    The National and Nomadic Guard of the Republic of Chad is guest of honour for the 2026 National Day celebrations in Cameroon.

    Troops from Chad are taking part in the event for the second time, after their first participation in 2015 participation.

    They will take part at the military parade at the 20th May Boulevard in Yaounde.

    The event will be presided over by the President of the Republic, Paul Biya.

    Parliament: Former House Speaker Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril Passes On

    The former Speaker of the National Assembly, Honourable Cavaye Yeguie Djibril died this Wednesday May 6, 2026 in Tokombere in Mayo-Sava Division of the Far North Region.

    The Member of National Assembly was the First-Class traditional ruler of Mada in the Tokombéré subdivision.

    He was the fourth Speaker of the National Assembly, holding the position from 1992 to 2026, becoming the longest-serving serving person to hold the position.

    He will be remembered for playing an essential role in the construction of the new edifice of the National Assembly called the Paul Biya Glass House.
